Armor is equipment that is designed to protect a person from weapons, or from getting hurt. Armor can be made from many different materials, such as leather or metal. It can also be worn on many different parts of the body, from head to toe. Armor is used during war to protect soldiers.
In the early Middle Ages, people preferred to wear chainmail. Chainmail consisted of many loops of metal chained together and worn over regular clothes. It protected one adequately, but heavier metal armor was worn in the later Middle Ages. This is what most people imagine when thinking of armor; an all-encompassing suit of heavy armor with a helmet.
